Website ADA Compliance Services
While the Americans with Disabilities Act was originally thought to only affect brick & mortar shops, more recently the grey areas around the wording of the ADA has kicked off thousands of compliance lawsuits around the world, the most public of which being when Beyonce's website was sued for non compliance in early 2019.
Is My Website Compliant?
In our experience when auditing websites for compliance, greater than 90% are not ADA compliant websites. This not only proposes a moral and financial issue, people with vision impairments or physical disabilities are unable to use your website or buy your products, but it can lead to a lawsuit against your business itself, which is becoming more and more common practice.
The only real way to see if you're fully compliant would be too get an extensive audit done on your website but here are some quick things you can try yourself to see if you're missing even the most basic level of compliance:
- 1. Is your website fully functional using only the keyboard to navigate it?
- 2. Can you always identify the focused part of the website when navigating with only the keyboard?
- 3. Does any text on your website look difficult to read because of the color combination of the text and the background?
- 4. Does anything on your website flash more than 3 times per second?
If you answered no to any of these questions you do not have an ADA compliant website and your business could be open to a lawsuit!
